"Our first encounter with Taka Kigawa - who has brought to Café Montage a remarkable breadth of musical experiences from New York City, ranging from Debussy and Messiaen to Feldman, and most notably, last year’s extraordinary complete performance of Ligeti’s Études - dates back ten years, with a concert devoted to the music of Pierre Boulez.
At the time, we believed that the opportunity to hear even one of these works live would be an exceptional experience. Never did we imagine that it would one day be possible to hear them all in a single lifetime - let alone in a single performance. And what’s more, with such delight and vitality. That unforgettable day has since become part of Café Montage’s legend, often recalled and spoken of with deep admiration.

In 2015, in celebration of Boulez’s 90th birthday, Taka expressed his intention to return for the centennial. True to his word, that moment has now arrived. In June 2025, it is our great pleasure to present this long-awaited performance.
